In 2008, Excel Academy opened in Ward 8 to girls 3, 4 and 5. We will add a grade each year to eventually serve the 8th grade. As the District’s first all girls’ public charter school, Excel Academy is committed to providing the best educational experience for girls in Washington, DC.

Application and Lottery
Excel Academy Public Charter School is a free public school for girls living in Washington, D.C. Residents of Maryland and Virginia can apply and attend the school for a fee established by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education.
